Can I hide from people I know (block contacts)?
Yes. With Block contacts you pick people from your phone's contacts whom you won't see or be seen by, even if they join later.

Yes. With Block contacts you can avoid seeing, or being seen by, a colleague, your boss or an ex, for example.
Go to Settings > Safety > Block contacts (you can also find it in the Safety Center).
Allow the app to access your contacts when your phone asks.
Tap Choose contacts, select the people you want to hide from and tap Block.
The block works both ways, and it also applies if the person only joins later.
Numbers and emails are hashed on your phone before they are sent, so we never see names or numbers in plain text.
Changed your mind? Tap Remove all contact blocks on the same screen. If you declined access, you can allow it in your phone's settings.
